As you may know, LD56 was unanimously declared OUGHT NOT TO PASS by the Joint Standing Committee of the IF&W. Only one member, Mr. Martin, stated his reason for his Ought Not To Pass vote. That was because the Lower Pond has a public boat launching area. The rest of the Committee did not say anything.

I think that this process put the issue in the forefront and a conversation among the private citizens attending, both pro and con, will bring a new perspective of concern for safety of humans and wildlife, especially the loons, the environment, and the quiet of Wilson Ponds.

Thanks to all of you for your responsiveness to this issue.

Warm Regards,
Kay Johnson

Our Work

In 1991 the Friends of Wilson Pond Area, Inc. acquired a 150 acre conservation easement on Plum Creek Timber Company's land along the eastern and southern shores of Lower Wilson Pond. This easement guarantees no development within 500 feet of the pond along nearly 3 miles of the shore from Rum Brook to Upper Wilson Pond Thoroughfare - forever.
